FIXTURE NEWS FOR SATURDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2023

MESSAGE TO ALL CLUBS, REFEREES AND LOCAL PRESS

The only games on today are the following three away Mid Ulster Shield ties.

MUFA SHIELD ROUND 3 TIES – SAT 4 NOVEMBER 2023 – KICK OFF 1.300 pm
Hill Street v Church Street at Lurgan Junior High School
Moneyslane Res v Rossowen at Jubilee Park, Castlewellan
Lurgan Town Res v Greenfield Park Lurgan Town Arena, Lurgan

Please see the following message below received from the Council grounds maintenance team on Thursday 2 November.

" We have inspected all pitches that are scheduled for this Saturday 4th of November. I know it's two days until match day,but we don't see the pitches improving that they would be playable. Therefore in the interest of players safety and pitch availability for the rest of the season all football fixtures for this Saturday 4th November will be cancelled. "

I don't think anyone will be surprised by the Council decision. The grounds are completely saturated and must be extremely soft underfoot. Despite the fine weather forecast for Friday and Saturday it would be difficult to see how any of the pitches could dry out sufficiently to enable games to go ahead. The last thing we need is for serious damage to be done to any of the pitches which would put them out of action for many weeks ahead and consequently curtail the League programme even further.

The fixtures scheduled for this Saturday will most likely be carried forward to next Saturday 11 November. Confirmation of next weeks fixtures will be sent to all concerned over the next few days.
